Our Story
The Tux Tailor is a young and dynamic brand putting a modern twist to the tailoring industry. Standing on 10 stores in top locations/malls throughout Cape Town as well as Johannesburg with the best highly skilled staff to do all types of alterations be it men’s , ladies and kids wear.
We are customer orientated and committed offering alterations while you wait, with the more complex alterations taking up to 3 days. At The Tux Tailor we are skilled to work with the finest threads, delicate materials and curtaining which in turn makes us a well rounded service provider.
How we began
The Tux Tailor began with the vision to create a clothing brand specializing in bespoke suits, with an emphasis on the finer details of garment construction. We realized that creating a refined, efficient and cost-effective manufacturing process was crucial in achieving our aim: to provide a high quality bespoke suit in as little time as possible, at a cost that allows the patron to have a selection of suits rather than just one or two.
A growing number of celebrity patrons
With the growing success story of the Tux Tailor, the brand drew in a number of celebrity patrons including the likes of the Springbok World Cup Winning Captain Siya Kolisi, Protea Captain Faf Du Plessis, Bafana Bafana and Cape Town City stalwart Taariq Fielies, Blitzbok All-time try-scoring record holder Seabelo Senatla, The Voice South Africa Winner Craig Lucas, Professional golfing sensation Jacquin Hess and numerous other achievers from a variety of fields.
Fortunately for The Tux Tailor, a gentleman named Cheslin Kolbe knows a thing or two about stepping out of Juan’s considerably large shadow and leaving his own legacy! It is an honour to have Cheslin onboard and The Tux Tailor Family wish him and Juan the very best for the future! We are, already, very proud of you both!
Where we at currently
Due to increasing demands for a Tux Tailor store to accommodate patrons living on the west coast, a new store was opened at the Table Bay Mall in 2019. The expansion of new stores was put on hold due to the Corona Virus of 2020. The 4 partners and our experienced advisor and mentor, focused on streamlining business and manufacturing procedures to maximize efficiency and to further improve the quality of our bespoke suits and waistcoats. Plans for a new Tux Tailor store to be launched in the CBD area during 2021 are ahead of schedule. We are also looking to recruit a select few of only the very best tailors available to join our team!
